History and Heritage

The Crichton Foundation was originally set up by Elizabeth Crichton who purchased our picturesque campus. Over the years it has had many uses and today houses our University and College buildings and is therefore in keeping with the original legacy of Elizabeth Crichton. Today the Foundation preserves the heritage of the campus, develops the Crichton estate as a public asset for the whole community and raises awareness of its importance to the prosperity of the region of the Crichton Campus.

Student Bursaries and Scholarships

The Foundation offers awards and grants to students and assists the Crichton Campus partners, including Dumfries & Galloway College, University of Glasgow, University of West of Scotland, Open University, Crichton Carbon Centre and Scotland’s Rural University College, to develop their programmes and work collaboratively.

The Foundation offers the following help to students through scholarships, awards, prizes and bursaries:

Crichton University of South of Scotland Action Group (CUSSAG) Award
Elizabeth Crichton Postgraduate Award
Crichton Foundation Discretionary Fund
Carson Reaching Potential Awards
Crichton Foundation Academic Excellence Awards
Crichton Foundation Student Hardship Grants

To find out more about these awards and which you might be eligible for you can check the Crichton Foundation website and talk to staff at the Student Link if you are unsure.

Supporting CUCSA and Sports

Here at CUCSA we are able to run all our sports teams and clubs, as well as our social events as a result of the support of The Crichton Foundation. So even if you haven’t dealt directly with the Foundation they may be supporting you without you even knowing it!
