Dumfries is well catered for in terms of public transport both locally and further afield and here on campus we benefit from designated buses going straight to campus.

 

 

Trains:
Dumfries’ train station is located on Lovers Walk around 5 mins walk from the town centre and is served by both Scotrail and Virgin trains.

Buses:
Dumfries is serviced by a large number of local and long distance buses.

Getting to Campus – The Crichton Campus is serviced by it’s own bus route, the number 5 Stagecoach bus, from town to the university and college buildings via the Hospital. Currently returns from the Dumfries town centre cost £1.95 and buses run back and forth every 20 minutes.

Local – Most buses in Dumfries are run by Stagecoach who do both discounted returns, day tickets and weekly tickets.  A map of  Dumfries Bus Routes  can be downloaded here and further info on routes and timetables of all services found on the council website.

Driving & Parking:

Dumfries is easily accessible from motorways from both North and South. It is worth noting the campus is slightly out of town but The Crichton Campus is well signposted from all directions.

Parking On Campus – there is generally a lot of parking available outside most of the campus buildings but please take note of disabled and staff spaces. There is ample parking outside the Dumfries and Galloway College and The Crichton Library.

Parking in Town – Most of Dumfries works on either a Parking Permit or Disc system so check signs before parking. Discs can be found in most shops in Dumfries and the Tourist Information.  There are also a number of Free and Long Term car parks. Check here for details on parking in Dumfries

Cycling:

A lot of students cycle to and from university and Dumfries has multiple cycle routes around the town. Information on routes can be found on the GoSmart website.
