Tour of Britain Cycling

ToB-logo_214For those in Dumfries last year you will remember how popular the Tour of Britain event was on Whitesands. This year The Tour is back and it will be finishing in the stunning grounds of Drumlanrig Castle. But don’t worry you won’t miss the fun, this year in recognition of the tremendous support of the cyclist and to help ease congestion Dumfries and Galloway council will be helping us get there by providing free transport! Awesome.

Cycling is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and we are delighted to welcome back The Tour of Britain in the Year of Natural Scotland 2013.

The Tour of Britain is working very closely with Dumfries and Galloway Council and Buccleuch Estates to ensure that visitors to the Scottish stage finale at Drumlanrig Castle have a great day out.

The Castle will be a glorious setting for The Tour, and is accessible from Dumfries, Ayr, Glasgow, Edinburgh and the North of England. There will be a special atmosphere at Drumlanrig on the 15 September, with lots to see and do in the run up to The Tour of Britain arriving.

Up to five hundred spectators will be accommodated in the free travel initiative. Interested cycling fans can go to www.gosmartdumfries.co.uk and book their place from Thursday 15 August.Please note that Dumfries and Galloway Council will be providing free transport from a variety of locations to Drumlanrig Castle on the 15 September.
