Strike Action 03/12/13

In relation to strike action scheduled for Tuesday the 3rd of December the universities have released the following statements:

 UWS Students please take note:

“Following October’s day of action by Higher Education trade unions across the UK, a second day of action has been announced by four of the sector’s five trade unions (Unison, Unite, UCU ad EIS) on Tuesday 3rd December 2013.

In light of the potential for disruption to students, the University has decided to close all campuses on 3rd December. Therefore, no classes will run and no other campus-based facilities will be available on the 3rd.

It is our expectation that teaching will be recovered by appropriate means at a later date.

Please note, students who are scheduled to be on placement or work-based learning activity on Tuesday 3rd should undertake this as planned – this is not affected by the campus closures.

The University campuses will re-open as normal on Wednesday 4th December.”

Glasgow Students, Dumfries Campus has announced the following:

“*** INDUSTRIAL ACTION: IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION FOR DUMFRIES CAMPUS BASED STUDENTS***

As you may be aware members of trade unions have indicated that they will be taking strike action on Tuesday 3 December.

The University of Glasgow at the Dumfries Campus will be open as normal, operating from the Rutherford / McCowan and Maxwell House buildings. However, some services provided by UWS may be affected.”

Please note that there will be a picket line outside the Crichton Campus.
